Interior Design

Let’s chat about the Interior Design process.

Interior design is a harmonious interplay of space, function, and aesthetics. Each element must align seamlessly to create a fluid environment. The rhythm of design emerges from careful proportions, color palettes, and textures, with each choice vital to the overall composition. The initial design phases begin with a solid foundation, guided by floor plans dictating movement through the space. Furnishings that complement each other while contributing to a cohesive narrative. Materials and Textures add layers; soft fabrics evoke warmth, while sleek metals introduce modernity. Lighting highlights key features and creates moods that shift throughout the day. Color sets the tone; bold hues energize, while muted tones promote tranquility. Accessories and artwork enhance the presentation without overpowering it, ensuring balance. In interior design, every choice is intentional, creating a synergy of form and function. A successful design leaves a lasting impression, showcasing artistry and craftsmanship. It’s a blank canvas that we are painting together to create a space that speaks to you and your lifestyle.

I find that most clients starting a remodel or a new construction project can find it overwhelming and often times intimidating. My goal is to alleviate that. Over the years of my Interior Design career it’s been important to nurture relationships with clients and trades assisting clients in figuring out what works for their project. The first step in the process will always be a design consultation.

Prior to the scheduled consultation it’s recommended to have a general budget in mind and gathering any critical information to the project along with a list of needs or wants. For a projects success collaboration is essential, listening to your needs and helping create a design that works for you is always at the forefront of every design project. Timelines as we all know are a crucial component of the project and can fluctuate due to scale of project/scope and current lead times of products. The goal is to be transparent as possible when managing timeline expectations with clients throughout the project.

The complete process can't be summed up in a brief paragraph and if you have further questions or would like to know more about my process and fee structure please feel free to contact me. I would love to work with you on your next design project.

Featured Work | Nederlander Lounge | Commercial

It was a privilege to work in the iconic Fisher Building located in the New Center neighborhood of Detroit, MI. This ornate 30-story building was finished in 1928, and is a major work of architect Albert Kahn. The building was designed in the Art Deco style, and was originally financed by the Fisher family with proceeds from the sale of the Fisher Body to General Motors Corporation. This particular area in the building is located in the 2,089-seat Fisher Theatre which is a national historical landmark. The basement space was the original offices of D.T. Nederlander and his sons where they laid the groundwork for building their theatre empire. My goal was to design an area that was opulent and bold but still had a balance between Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern design aesthetics. Transforming this space into a glamorous lounge for their guests to indulge in.

Featured Work | Bishop Residence | Residential

The Bishop Mansion is a beautiful historical estate built in the late 1920’s. It was a complete dream to dive into redesigning key area’s of the residence. The overarching goal of the project was to skillfully restore as well as redesign select interior area's and exterior grounds. This estate was well overdue for updates and to bring this magnaumis home back up to luxurious modern day living standards. Many layers of design, architecture and engineerings were needed in order to achieve a seamless design between historic and new. The intent for this historical property was to stay as a residence and reinvigorate its landmark status in Palmer Woods.

Featured Work | Cranbrook | Residential

This new construction luxury home was a pleasure to work on from initial design drawings and selections to completion. As always it was important to work with a builder whose vision and skill aligned with the design vision. Through design collaboration with Brandywine Construction and the tradesmen throughout the project that vision became reality. It’s always a pleasure to see those initial design idea’s and renderings come to life while working with trades that appreciate design and true craftsmanship.

Featured Work | Grant’s Pizza House | Commercial

From initial site review to concept renderings to finish photo’s, this project had been a delight to see transform into a successful local business. When I was approached about the project I knew there were going to be some major challenges with spacial constraints and storage. We wanted to completely transform this old tired pizza shop for the new owners. It was important to work with them on creating an environment that was coherent with their new brand. Transparency, and the play between high contrast colors really helped to elevate and make the space feel much larger. I could’t be happier with how it all turned out and if you’re ever in Rochester,MI be sure to stop in and give Grant’s Pizza House a try.
